A moving checklist to send your customers

A prepared customer saves your crew hours. Sending a clear checklist after the order is confirmed cuts waiting, forgotten items and last-minute calls.

Published

1. A few weeks before

Ask for the things that take time first.

  • Decide what to move, sell, give away or throw out
  • Point out heavy, fragile or valuable items
  • Check access, lift and parking at both homes
  • Tell the building manager or concierge, if needed
  • Arrange the change of address and utilities

2. The week before

Ask the customer to confirm that the inventory and services in the quote are still right: one extra wardrobe or a different floor changes time and crew. If the customer packs themselves, remind them to label boxes with room and contents.

3. The day before

  • Empty and defrost the fridge
  • Take apart anything the customer said they would dismantle
  • Set aside documents, keys, medicines and valuables to carry personally
  • Clear hallways and passages

4. Moving day

Someone should be there at the start and the end, to show what goes where and check the work. At delivery the customer checks and signs; any damage should be reported straight away, with photos.

5. How to send it

Adapt the checklist to your services, send it with the order confirmation, then remind the customer a few days before. The shorter and more concrete it is, the more it gets read.

In MovesFlow customers send requests, review and sign quotes, follow their order and pay invoices from their own account, so what was agreed is in one place.
